Riveting Reading in the Library
The Creative Cookie Club got off to an exciting start on Monday, with a reading by Leah Peirce, Emdad Flamed and Charlotte Domberger. They have just published a fascinating book of visual poetry, which is an exploration of identity using Pluto as an extended metaphor.
The library shaped up wonderfully, giving an intimate stage for a lot of novel ideas. We had a full house and were happy to have guests from our sister SESB schools Peter-Ustinov and Hans-Litten.
The authors of Pluto gave us a reading from the book; led a discussion about the ideas behind it and then generously allowed other people to take the stage in an open mic session, where people read a range of poems in a variety of languages including Rumanian and Afrikaans.
A big thanks to Leah and Alanza for being the driving force behind the organisation!
If you are interested in developing your ideas and having a go, come along to the next Creatie Cookie Club session on Monday 16th of September - in the library at 14.45. Here we will use writing prompts, develop an authentic voice, play with words and follow the flow. Word of the week: transition. Any ideas? If there is enough interest, we would love to host an open mic session once a month. Let Ms Baker know or just drop in!
